
As you roll into 2024, let’s have a real, heart to heart talk. The holiday vibes are fading, and everywhere you look, there’s a ton of diets, cleanses, and promises for quick fixes. You’ve seen this movie before – by February, your health goals might be playing hide and seek. In fact, 80% of people give up on their New Year’s goals by mid February. I want you to beat the odds!
It’s like a crazy train, right? And guess what? You’re not alone. The weight loss industry rakes in a whopping $58 billion every year, and yet, you are likely still not where you want be health-wise. Why? It’s because they play on your desperation, making big promises that often fall flat. Trust me, I know. I spent over a decade falling for it too.
But here’s the deal – improving your health isn’t rocket science. It’s more simple than you think. You just don’t know what you don’t know. It’s not your fault. The diet industry is exceptionally good at what they do.
This is the season where the diet industry feasts on making relentless promises, quick fixes, perfect diets, and magic pills that inundate your senses and leave you grappling with confusion. It’s time to jump off this crazy train, step away from the hype and overpromising of a quick fix, and focus on lasting, sustainable health instead. The best part is that you don’t have to do this alone. You are actually MORE likely to reach your goals when you don’t do it alone! Community is a big piece of achieving lasting, sustainable, transformational health. When you go it alone you are less likely to be successful. When you are not successful you likely weaponize that failure and make it about something being wrong with you. There’s nothing wrong with you. This is just human nature….especially for women. Women tend personalize this much more than men do. I get it because that was me too. I tried everything and could not get better and reach my goals. What worked for others never worked for me, at least not long term. It is a very destructive cycle.
Like I said earlier, you just don’t know what you don’t know. What makes matters works is that it is impossible to sift through the sea of confilicing information on your own. It’s designed that way; they stack the deck against you …$58 billion a year stacked against you.
This is why community is SO IMPORTANT. In a world filled with conflicting information, a supportive community acts as a beacon and plum-line on your health journey. The camaraderie, shared victories, and collective wisdom create a foundation for lasting well-being.
Here are three straightforward strategies you need to move toward a healthier you:
- Educate Yourself Without the Overwhelm: Instead of drowning in a sea of confusing and conflicting information, focus on the basics. Understand how food, sleep, and stress affect YOUR individual body. Keep it simple and don’t get lost in every new diet trend. There is not quick fix or magic solution. You didn’t end up where you are today in a day (or a month); it will take time and consistency to get to where you want to be.
- Seek Guidance, Not Gimmicks: Cut through the noise and find someone who gets it.
